Listen to the music

It’s always great when you get a chance to work on a project that is, well, just a heck of a lot of fun! CooCooCaChooBand.com is exactly that. Featuring musicians who have played with the likes of Roy Orbison, Atlanta Rhythm Section, B.J. Thomas, and Roy Buchanan; Coo Coo Ca Choo is one of Tampa Bay’s premier rock roots bands.

The band had been on the web for some time, but knew that their existing site just didn’t do a very good jobĀ Coo Coo Ca Choo's existing site really didn't convey an upbeat image of the band. conveying the dynamic excitement and energy of their performances. Fortunately, we had access to some great photography from Kent Ross Studios from a recent show at Skipper’s Smokehouse. A variety of these photos were used as both background images of each page, but also in short self-paced banner animations on many of the pages.

The home page opens with a Fresh Rocket created Flash motion graphic video incorporating almost 100 of Kent Ross’s concert shots with a Coo Coo Ca Choo soundtrack medley of three songs recorded at the Skipper’s performance. Several other pages include short MP3 clips of their recordings.

From a technical aspect, the site makes extensive use of CSS, limited use of JavaScript for the animated slide shows and accordion effects, as well as lots of audio and video. Also, for the first time, we’ve used the relatively new @font-face CSS tag. The @font-face tag allows us to utilize specific type faces without worrying about whether they’re the basic fonts that are installed on almost all computers. In this case, we used League Gothic for headlines, Bergamo for body copy, and Kingthings Printing for initial caps.

But, that’s enough description, why don’t you just click on over to take a look (and listen) for yourself!
