Whether you are an alternative energy start-up company or an established non-profit, special events and promotions can be a valuable tool in your marketing mix.
In this case, AdvanceAbility Solutions / United Cerebral Palsy of Tampa Bay needed a signature event that worked on a variety of levels. It needed to raise money. It needed to increase awareness of their mission. And, it needed to create a bond with community leaders that would set the organization apart from the myriad of other local charitable groups.
After researching numerous scenarios, we realized that, although Tampa was the acknowledged Cigar City, no organization was really tapping into this history that resonated so strongly with the community.
The event was an immediate success. Working with Bobby Newman from J.C. Newman Cigar Co., we were able to enlist enthusiastic support from major community leaders and celebrities. The first two events exceeded fundraising goals while generating substantial awareness of the event and the charity.
Perhaps more importantly, numerous community and business leaders who had never even thought about the organization before, were now not only aware of the mission, but personally engaged with it because of this unifying event.
